Specialized Marine Transport started in the hearts and minds of Bob Huntley and his son Chad in the mid 80’s when the father son combo “Day-Dreamed” about owning and operating a landing craft service in their favorite playground, the San Juan Islands. This “Day-Dream” became a reality in 2006 after decades of gunkholing the San Juan’s. Together the two purchased the vessel “TIN BOOT TOO”, a landing craft built specific to service the San Juan Islands.
Since the start the father-son team have grown the fleet, introducing their second custom built landing craft in 2020. This vessel was designed and built with the specific purpose in mind of transporting passengers around the islands, both for commuting from the mainland or simply exploring the islands treasures.
Bob and Chad have spent their lives working and playing in the San Juans and the Puget Sound. They look forward to working with you, whether you need goods transported, a ferry ride to the island’s or want to build your own adventure seeing all the sights and “Sounds” in our backyard playground.
